Vous êtes les bienvenu.e.s. N'hésitez pas à partager, peut-etre au GT féminisme d'AIA, par exemple, si c'est le genre de choses qui peut vous intéresser. The climate crisis is not gender-neutral. Women, girls and trans women worldwide are hit hardest by the impact of the climate crisis. Some examples: 70% of those killed in the 2004 Asian tsunami were women and children. Hurricane Katrina of 2005 in the United States mainly affected black women and women of colour. When drought hits, women in the south end up having to walk further for their daily water supply, making them more vulnerable.
As International Women's Day (8 March) approaches, we would like to show solidarity with all women by calling for an end to violence against Mother Earth and her children. We are therefore organising a panel discussion on Ecofeminism. On Thursday 2 March, the panel with Philsan Osman, Rachida Aziz and Joanna Maycock will consider the questions below.
How can we link the fight for a healthy environment for all with the fight against discrimination and exploitation of women. How can we ensure that the solutions we put forward for a green, sustainable and peaceful future do not harm women or other oppressed groups? And how can we move from fighting our battles in isolation to broad collaboration that will infinitely strengthen our impact? How do we move from a system that exploits people and planet to one that cares?
