Yes! FOSDEM is a yearly Brussels' treat :-) and we should definitely find a way to be present as LGRU? Ana and Ricardo are busy reserving a hallway-stand for Libre Graphics Mag at FOSDEM; this will kick off their residence in Brussels from then until the research meeting in February. Great to know Mozilla participation will be strong this year + nice to see them connect to HSBXL-NG. Networked Lay-out worksession

About the morning session on Thursday: Networked Lay-out Over the last few months, the Co-position team (Constant, Brussels) opened up the Pandora's box of digital lay-out tools. Not only did we find that they are largely defined through historical ideas of bookmaking, illustration and publishing, also we realise how much they are thought as discrete, individual workspaces for individuals executing precise tasks in a linear process. We would like to use the occasion of the first research meeting Networked Graphics to discuss possibilities, find out about relevant developments and brainstorm about ideas for distributed or decentralized forms of lay-out. - What networked workflows of lay-out can we imagine? - How can versioning be integrated in lay-out tools? - How to deal with branching, forking? - Which elements would benefit from versioning (text, images, grid, fonts?), and how to relate/reintegrate changes? - What would it mean for these digital workspaces to be more collaborative? - The case of Libre Graphics Magazine: how to support a transcontinental workflow? hi all, very much looking fwd to welcoming you in Rotterdam this week! As most things regarding programme and travel arrangements seem to have settled, here's an update on what you can expect of your visit to WORM. I've attached an outline by my colleague Katelyn on how to get to your hotel and our venue, though i'm not sure how this list handles attachments (.pdf) so you can also find it in plaintxt below (only missing the pretty Google map). Most of you arrive on Tuesday evening, our programme for the week starts Wednesday morning at 10am. If there's anything you need to get in touch about beforehand, you can contact me directly via *0031 628081464* - or my colleague Katelyn via *0031 616459542*, or our office at *0031 104767832*. /LGRU Networked Graphics/ December 7-11 2011 :: on Wednesday morning we'll start at 10am with a tour of our new building (and coffee of course ;) We'll take you through the whole venue and our studio facilities, and along the way i'll explain how most of it came to be so you can get an idea of what WORM actually is. We will end up in our main stage and cinema space, where we spend most of our time during the week. It's probably good to do a renewed meet&greet at this point, and possibly take some time for general LGRU updates from partners and associates. We will start wednesday december 7 and we will be saying goodbye Sunday december 11. Most of you will arrive at Tuesday december 6 and will go straight to the hotel. The hotel where you all will be staying is NH Atlanta Aert van Nesstraat 4 The hotel is in between Central station and WORM, both on a 10 minute walking distance. At the next page you can find a map. How to get to your hotel? Your flight has been booked by WORM. You will arrive at Schiphol Airport or in some cases Rotterdam Airport. Please save your boarding ticket for WORM and hand it in to me when you get here. We will need it for our administration (to proove to Europe that you've actually been here). Coming from Schiphol Airport You will arrive directly at the trainstation. There are many trains leaving to Rotterdam at any hour of the day. You can buy a ticket at a ticketmachine with coins and with a bankcard with Maestro logo. You can also go to the ticketdesk and buy a ticket with paper money or bankcard with maestro logo. A one way train ticket will cost 10,70 to Rotterdam. You can take a special train called 'Fyra' which will be 15 minutes faster than Intercitys. There is a surcharge for the Fyra, don't forget to buy an extra ticket for this. You can also do that at the ticketmachine or desk. Print a receipt, so you can hand it in at WORM and declare the money. The easiest way to declare the return ticket is to buy it when arriving in Rotterdam (buy it without a date) and print the receipt. Coming from Rotterdam Airport Take a taxi. It's about 15 minutes driving. Taxi will cost around 20 euros. Please ask for a receipt and save this well. You can hand it in at WORM and declare your money. Your stay At your hotel there will be breakfast every morning.
