sites and .net downtime at WORM tomorrow

dear all, rather unfortunate timing, but due to various circumstances our servers will be migrating tomorrow to their new /home - some datacenter far far away - and also our internet connection in-house will switch to a different ISP. Practically this means that for 1 or 2 minutes we will not have an internet connection during the meeting, so this is a minor glitch, however the bigger gap will be several hours of downtime on lgru.net and other sites hosted on the same box. We are working on some intermediate migration/placeholders to minimize the effect of this move, but like said in the worst case several sites will not be available for several hours. I'll be able to say more on this as we go along tomorrow, but if you need any content from lgru.net or subsites for presentation or otherwise i suggest you make local copies of this while things are still up. cheers, walter --

Part I in LGRU Brussels meeting introduced the ideas of nested sandboxes, the alchemy of prosumerism in open design and asked if free culture led to live like rats in the walls. Part II will now explore the nature and consequences of departing from one's homeland to new software territories. 11.30 presentation by Nuraini Juliastuti. Since 1999 Nuraini Juliastuti is a co-founder and director of the KUNCI Cultural Studies Center, an organisation aiming at advancing a wider critical movement to cultural issues through popular education practices and experimental approaches. In her presentation she will talk about different levels of illegality and copying in Indonesia, taking KUNCI's library and other related examples in Indonesia as case studies. 12.30 presentation by Marcell Mars. Nenad Romic (aka Marcell Mars) is one of the founders of Multimedia institute - mi2 + net.culture club mama in Zagreb. Marcell will present on his 'FREE LIBRARIES FOR EVERY SOUL (FLES)' project, in which he devised a DIY digital bookscanner and a methodology for sharing books online, among other things. 13.30 break for lunch 14.30 Federated Publishing / Libre Graphics Mini-Sprint start We invite you to take part in a mini-sprint to create a publication on Libre Graphics and/or Federated Publishing. This sprint will give participants an introduction to the process of collaborative writing in real time.
